As a construction professional regularly advising clients before, during and after claim situations in the construction industry, there has been a lot of discussion in the last few weeks about how this current crisis will impact ongoing projects and the costs of construction.
I am hired to analyze construction cost issues at varying times in the lifecycle of a project. It could be at the beginning stages to analyze potential cost impacts due to delays, issues to bidding out projects, to project oversight, to ongoing builders’ risk issues, to estimating the reasonable value of property claims, to construction defect litigation, forensic accounting, and beyond. When looking at your current project, my first suggestion would be to determine where you are at in the lifecycle of your project. This will determine the course of action you will take and ultimately give you the most perspective as to the monetary damages from the impact of COVID19.
