More than 11,000 Americans with Disabilities Act lawsuits were filed by private plaintiffs in federal courts in 2019, setting a national record since Seyfarth Shaw started compiling the data about seven years ago.

California led the nation with its own record of 4,794 federal actions under the 30-year-old law. New York followed with 2,635 and Florida with 1,885. New York overtook Florida in 2018.
