The Florida Supreme Court Thursday suspended ex-Tallahassee commissioner Scott Maddox’s law license after the attorney-politician pleaded guilty to accepting bribes from companies, including ridesharing app Uber, in exchange for his influence at City Hall.

Maddox was chairman of the Florida Democratic Party between 2002 and 2005. Prosecutors accused him of referring clients to his business associate Paige Carter-Smith’s lobbying firm, which would pay him for votes.
