A jury found a state prison warden and a sergeant were not to blame for an inmate’s injury during an altercation with another inmate.

On Oct. 15, 2016, Recondall Wiggins, then 43, an inmate at South Bay Correctional Facility in Palm Beach County suffered a laceration to his stomach during a fight with another inmate. Wiggins alleged he was stabbed with a disposable razor blade. He claimed Claude Maye and Otis Abner failed to enforce a razor blade ban by not searching the prisoners’ dormitories for razor blades and writing up disciplinary reports about it.
