President Donald Trump is set to nominate litigator Roy Altman and Miami-Dade Circuit Judges Rodolfo “Rudy” Ruiz and Rodney Smith for federal judgeships in the Southern District of Florida, sources confirmed.

The picks have not been officially announced, but were initially reported by Miami attorney David O. Markus on his federal courts blog. There are five judicial vacancies in the district, which stretches from Fort Pierce to Key West. It’s unclear whether the president plans to fill the remaining two slots with candidates from the list of 10 submitted in November by the Judicial Nominating Commission.
