Schwartz Becomes Muni Co-Chairman Murtha Cullina partner Joseph Schwartz has been named co-chairman of the firm’s municipal practice group. Schwartz has spent the bulk of his legal career representing municipalities in matters involving general governance, construction law, land use and tax appeals. He also has extensive experience advising municipalities on zoning enforcement, contracting, public procurement and real estate, as well as building codes, fire regulations and water and sewer issues. The Murtha Cullina Municipal Group currently serves as general counsel for seven Connecticut municipalities and as special counsel to more than 25 other municipalities.
Baroni Co-Chairs Committee Megan Baroni has been appointed co-chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Section of Litigation’s Environmental and Energy litigation committee. Baroni is a member of the firm’s environmental, energy and telecommunications practice groups. Baroni has extensive experience in environmental litigation, health and safety disputes, federal and state administrative compliance and transactional environmental issues involving federal and state environmental laws. Her litigation experience involves federal and state environmental enforcement actions and private lawsuits. She frequently works with scientific experts and is well-regarded for her technical expertise.
Casella Named Fellow by ACTEC Murtha Cullina partner Alfred Casella has been elected fellow of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel. ACTEC is a national organization of approximately 2,500 lawyers elected to membership by demonstrating the highest level of integrity, commitment and competence as trust and estate counselors. Casella’s practice includes estate administration, probate litigation and sophisticated estate planning. His practice also includes serving as a fiduciary, whether as executor, trustee or conservator as well as serving as counsel for conservatorships.
Donation Drive Benefits Connecticut Nonprofits Three Connecticut nonprofit agencies were the recipients of Halloran & Sage’s firm-wide donation drive last week. New Haven Community Soup Kitchen, Family & Children’s Agency of Norwalk and Hands on Hartford received Halloween candy and fruit; toiletries; and winter accessories and basic necessities, respectively. The firm’s 180+ attorneys and staff from offices in Hartford, New Haven, Westport, Danbury, Middletown and New London joined together to support the three nonprofits.
