Days before Megyn Kelly’s controversial interview with Sandy Hook conspiracy theorist Alex Jones aired on NBC, the lawyer representing the victims’ families warned there could be legal ramifications. Now, media experts say that threat may lack teeth.
Attorney Josh Koskoff hinted at legal action in a letter to NBC executives by warning that airing the interview “will cause serious emotional distress” to the Sandy Hook families. Attorneys and media law experts agreed any lawsuit would hinge on federal tort doctrine dealing with intentional infliction of emotional distress, but would run up against a First Amendment defense.
