Known as "Monsignor Meth," the Roman Catholic priest who sold $300,000 in methamphetamines out of his apartment reminded Connecticut court officials that the latest drug scourge is here.

The point was driven home by U.S. Magistrate Thomas P. Smith, who compared crystal meth to a "bomb that is creeping east from California." He made the comments during a bond hearing for the Monsignor, Kevin Wallin, who shocked his former Catholic church congregation in Waterbury when he was arrested in January.
