In the spacious New Haven Lawn Club ballroom where U.S. District Judge Mark R. Kravitz gave a 2005 talk about “The Vanishing Trial,” an attentive crowd of Connecticut’s legal intelligentsia gathered last week to hear the latest ideas on that provocative subject.

Seven years ago, Kravitz, who died this fall of Lou Gehrig’s disease at age 62, was addressing the annual meeting of the Connecticut Bar Foundation. Last week, the foundation debuted what will become an annual symposium in Kravitz’ honor. It featured 16 speakers, including nationally famous legal scholars, top court officials, and leading figures from Connecticut’s trial bar.
