Previously in these pages you have read about my unbridled devotion to chocolate. I must also confess that I am madly in love with another product derived from beans (no, not ricin): coffee. Ah, coffee, the elixir of life — without it, I would be a whining, sighing, dragging, dilapidated person, squelching along in the trenches without hope of ever penetrating the permafrost of midlife fatigue. My friend Chip Danker says he requires coffee as a prophylaxis against nasal fracture resulting from contact with the keyboard, or worse, the steering wheel, but I digress.
