Mary K. Howley v. Town of Canton:A Hartford jury recently ruled against a woman who claimed that a defective sidewalk caused her to trip and fracture her leg while walking in the town of Canton.
Mary K. Howley, a woman in her mid- to late 40s was walking in the Collinsville section of Canton on Aug. 15, 2006 at 6 p.m. when she tripped where the curb met the sidewalk. “There was some settling of the brick sidewalk that was adjacent to the concrete curbing and it created a tripping hazard,” said Howley’s lawyer, John J. Houlihan Jr., of RisCassi & Davis in Hartford.
