Yale Law School graduates recorded the highest pass rate of those taking California’s bar exam for the first time last July, according to statistics the state bar provided this week.

Twenty-six of 27 Elis, or 96%, received passing scores on the test, far surpassing the 64% pass rate for all first-time test-takers of the summer exam. Yale Law grads, which include California Supreme Court Justices Goodwin Liu and Leondra Kruger, typically post one of the highest pass rates on the exam. Their success on the July 2023 test also gives them bragging rights over fellow Ivy Leaguers at Harvard Law School, which had a 90% pass rate.
