Infowars talk-show host and far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones testified for the first time Thursday, and a new level of chaos and tension gripped the Connecticut courtroom where his damages trial is taking place.

The jury was dismissed and invited back multiple times throughout the day, due to legal disagreements on the correct line of questioning.

On the first day of trial, Judge Barbara Bellis immediately sanctioned Jones and his counsel from arguing that Infowars did not profit from Sandy Hook coverage. Bellis also said Jones could not discuss his bankruptcy proceedings. In addition, the default judgment against Jones in his defamation cases barred him from discussing the First Amendment.
