Connecticut Attorney General William Tong announced Thursday that his office is joining a coalition of 23 attorneys general, led by California and New York, in a brief in support of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program in Texas v. United States.

Tong’s support of the “Dreamers” comes in the form of an amicus brief filed before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. The coalition seeks to deter Texas-led efforts to end DACA, which provides work authorization and protection from removal for approximately 825,000 individuals, including more than 3,300 in Connecticut, Tong’s statement said.
