Amy Coney Barrett might be at the dawn of her lifetime appointment to the U.S. Supreme Court, but her short time on the bench has tipped the dynamics of her fellow justices, according to legal educators.

During a virtual panel organized by the Northern District of California last week, Melissa Murray, a professor at New York University School of Law, said Barrett’s presence has most notably altered Chief Justice John Roberts Jr.’s role on the court. Over the last couple of years, the chief justice had often served as a deciding vote in close cases.
