Five years after a flood of lawsuits accused drugmakers of creating the opioid crisis, the first federal trial is set to begin Monday in Charleston, West Virginia.
The trial, which is expected to last 12 weeks, comes after several previous bellwether cases in the multidistrict litigation settled or were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
