Saying the statewide policy and procedures governing who gets priority for the COVID-19 vaccine can be “dangerous,” a Connecticut disability advocacy group has filed a complaint with the Office for Civil Rights at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to try to change that.

Deborah Dorfman, an attorney and executive director of Disability Rights Connecticut, said, “It can be very dangerous if, for example, a person with disabilities needs a surgery or a medical procedure or dental procedure that would not be safe because of medical conditions without the vaccine. That medical procedure might have to be put on hold and I’ve seen instances where that has happened.”
