Calling the absence of a hearing to reinstate her as an attorney “retaliation” because of her past questioning of how the Statewide Grievance Committee disciplines attorneys, suspended Connecticut attorney Josephine Smalls Miller has filed a lawsuit against Judge Patrick Carroll III, who also serves as the chief court administrator.

Miller, a Danbury-based civil rights attorney, served her one-year suspension from the Connecticut Bar from November 2018 to November 2019. She reapplied for reinstatement in December 2019, but was told in early 2020 that a hearing on her case was being delayed due to coronavirus concerns.
