A 109-day trade secrets trial in Connecticut state court involving the formula for a type of cement floor-coating has ended in a mixed decision, with six defendants being held liable and four not, although motions for reconsideration and appeal notices have followed the Nov. 23 decision in quick succession.

The East Hartford-based Dur-A-Flex company, which describes itself as a manufacturer of “high-performance, poured resinous floor and wall systems,” launched the lawsuit in Hartford Superior Court in 2014. Dur-A-Flex originally named only one defendant, Samet Dy, a chemist who’d formerly worked for it before leaving in 2013 and later going on to work as a contractor for similar commercial and industrial flooring companies.
