Attorneys specializing in insurance law are watching as courts are getting filled with businesses—such as restaurants and fitness and entertainment facilities—suing their insurance carriers for not covering their losses due to states and municipalities temporarily closing their businesses because of COVID-19 concerns.

Attorneys who specialize in the area said there have been about 1,300 pandemic litigation matters filed against insurance carriers. To date, there have been about 85 state and federal  court rulings nationwide, most favoring the insurance companies, the experts said.
