The ethics surrounding retainers has been put front and center in the wake of a lawsuit against New Haven attorney Norm Pattis.
The suit claims the lawyer should have returned the bulk of a $250,000 retainer paid to his firm, Pattis & Smith, after the death of his client, Fotis Dulos, who died by suicide while facing a murder charge.
