Attorneys for an animal-rights group who have asked the Connecticut Supreme Court for an expedited hearing in the wake of news that two of three elephants held at a Connecticut petting zoo have died are now asking Gov. Ned Lamont to take action.
Florida-based nonprofit Nonhuman Rights Project is seeking to have Minnie, a 47-year-old Asian elephant, moved from the Goshen-based Commerford Zoo to one of two elephant sanctuaries in the country.
