A recent federal lawsuit paints a picture of rampant racial discrimination within the state Department of Transportation that allegedly included nonstop references to the N-word and targeting of minority workers when they complained about it.

The lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut was filed on behalf of three plaintiffs, including one white former worker, Michael Leo, one black employee, Tyquan Williams, and one Hispanic employee, Luis Ortiz. The two minority employees clam they were subjected to months of harassment at the state’s Milford Garage, while Leo claims he was fired when he refused to create false information for a pretext about Ortiz’s firing.
