For all the awareness that data is becoming more disparate and widespread, corporations have so far found limited success with handling new data sources such as social media. But this should come as little surprise — many are still struggling to collect data from mobile devices used within their offices.

Though far from a new challenge, these devices are becoming harder to manage from an information governance perspective, given their growing use among employees, according to the 2017 Executive Enterprise Mobility Report by CITO Research and Apperian. The findings, taken from a survey of more than 100 corporate managers and executives across 10 industries who were tasked with managing mobile devices, have far-reaching consequences for many enterprise e-discovery efforts.
