In just over a week, Colorado’s new cybersecurity law will go into effect, and it’s considered by experts to be among the strictest in the U.S.

Colorado’s Protections For Consumer Data Privacy, HB18-1128, gives a broader definition of personally identifying information while requiring companies have plans for both securing and disposing of it. The law, which impacts any company collecting data on Colorado residents, also decreases the amount of time businesses have to notify consumers in case of a breach.
