Big companies are increasingly hiring legal department operations (LDO) professionals, allowing in-house attorneys to focus on more substantive legal work, according to data collected by Thomson Reuters.

The “Thomson Reuters 2016 Legal Department In-Sourcing and Efficiency Report,” which looks at feedback from 429 attorneys and operational professionals working in corporate legal departments, reveals that not much has changed for legal departments when compared to last year. They are still expected to do more with less while also trying to demonstrate their value to the company.
