Last week the organization known as CLOC (Corporate Legal Operations Consortium) held its inaugural conference in San Francisco. It was called the CLOC Corporate Legal Operations Institute, and it ran from May 2 to May 4. The closing remarks were delivered by Mary Shen O’Carroll, who heads Legal Operations at Google. We’ve written about CLOC and other groups formed to bring Legal Ops people together (see “Comrade in Ops”) , and by all accounts last week’s event was a watershed in this growing new field. O’Carroll’s speech seemed to capture the moment well, and with her permission we have posted it below.

After three intensive and extremely interesting days of presentations, discussions and networking events on various topics surrounding the legal industry and effective operations, it is my utmost pleasure being able to conclude this conference with a few words.
