Ethics and compliance has often been seen as the legal department’s responsibility, but it looks like that is no longer the case at many companies. A new survey from NYSE Governance Services and the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics provides a host of insights into the world of E&C, including that the compliance function at many companies has broken away from the hold of legal.

This and other survey data contained in the “Compliance and Ethics Program Environment Report” show an overall trend of the elevation of compliance within organizations, likely because of the increasingly challenging regulatory landscape companies must operate within.
