General counsel and their multinational companies with operations in the U.K. face new rules this week requiring all employment disputes in that country to first go through the Advisory Conciliation and Arbitration Service (ACAS).
According to its website, ACAS is an independent service providing information, advice, training, conciliation and other help for workplace problems—for both employers and employees. While it is primarily funded by the government and many of its services are free, ACAS is governed by an independent council made up of diverse labor and management experts.
