A coalition of small-business and inventor-rights groups that oppose key provisions of a patent reform bill pending in the Senate asked the Small Business Administration to push for changes to the bill.

The coalition’s Dec. 15 letter to the SBA is the latest volley in the debate over the amended Patent Reform Act of 2009, S.515, introduced by Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt. There’s been no congressional action since the Senate Judiciary Committee reported an amended bill out of committee in April, but business and intellectual property groups are lining up on both sides.
