In-house counsel will grapple with a heavy load of new laws taking effect in 2024, particularly in worker-friendly states such as California, Illinois and New York.
For instance, several states and cities are rolling out new laws forcing employers to boost pay and to grant employees additional leave.

A new California law will increase the minimum wage for employees of fast-food restaurants with more than 60 locations nationwide from $16 an hour to $20 an hour.
