An important new report released by the National Association of Corporate Directors (“NACD”) helps to identify an additional role that the chief legal officer can perform in support of the company’s governance structure.

The report, “Culture as the Foundation: Building a High-Performance Board,” is the first substantive effort from a recognized board development organization to address the impact of culture on effective governance.  The report adds precision and clarity to what has historically been a soft and amorphous concept in terms of corporate governance.
