The surgeon general’s 19-page report last week highlighting the risks of social media further raises the pressure on tech companies to take additional steps to protect children and teens from its negative effects, legal observers say.

U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy asked parents to curb social media use among their children, and he called on companies to enforce age requirements and higher privacy standards.
