Dan Berkovitz is departing after 13 months as general counsel for the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and will be succeeded by principal deputy GC Megan Barbero, beginning Jan. 31.

“After 34 years of public service, it is time for me to pursue new and different challenges and opportunities,” said Berkovitz, who was appointed by former President Donald Trump as a commissioner of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission in 2018 and moved to the SEC in November 2021.
