The general counsel-to-CEO trend continued Monday with the promotion of Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust’s legal chief.

Sarah Paul is taking over as CEO after serving for six years as the New York-based global philanthropy foundation’s GC. She begins her new role Nov. 1 and succeeds Stephanie Cuskley. While Helmsley searches for its next top lawyer, Paul will serve as both GC and CEO of the foundation.
