As more organizations allow their employees to remotely work, their intentional and accidental insider threat cybersecurity risks are growing. However, while cybersecurity providers and lawyers agreed departments should work together to triage those incidents, they differed on who should quarterback those efforts. But as internal data breaches become more frequent, companies will eventually come to a consensus, said one cybersecurity provider.

Pinpointing which department is responsible for insider threats varies per organization, according to the “2020 Data Exposure Report” released by insider threat solution provider Code42 Software Inc. on Dec. 10.
