Legal and compliance leaders from AT&T Inc., American International Group Inc., VF Corp. and Uber Techologies Inc. are among the in-house attorneys and compliance professionals leading a new initiative by the Ethisphere Institute to find best practices for companies to advance equity and social justice.

Ethisphere’s Equity and Social Justice Initiative launched on Thursday. The initiative’s immediate goals are to start an ongoing conversation surrounding social justice and equity; identify good corporate social justice programs and find ways to replicate them; and work with the advisory council to come up with a set of questions that companies can use to measure their progress.
