Following his appointment as general counsel of Wichita, Kansas-based Koch Industries Inc. in 2018, Ray Geoffroy worked to help lead pro bono efforts. Fulfilling those efforts became a reality when Koch Industries lobbied the Kansas Board of Law Examiners to allow in-house counsel with a restricted license to provide pro bono legal services. The rule changed in September that year. Now, his team of 200 lawyers across the country works with organizations such as the Midwest Innocence Project, Kansas Legal Services and Georgia Justice Project.

The legal department also partners with community-based organizations that receive support through the Stand Together Foundation, the philanthropic community founded by Charles Koch.
