While technology can solve many of the problems and efficiencies that plague the legal ecosystem, it certainly isn’t a catchall. The University of Pennsylvania Carey Law School hosted a webinar Wednesday titled “Reimagining Legal Technology” where panelists addressed many of the systemic changes that need to accompany investments in tech.
One of the primary examples given was the way that businesses are engaging with the problem of cybersecurity. Jason Barnwell, an attorney in Microsoft Corp.’s corporate, external and legal affairs department, noted that many medium to large enterprises are now leveraging tech to make their value proposition, better, faster and smarter. In the process, they are positioning information as an asset—and potentially drawing a target for cybercriminals.
