Since last fall, Michigan State University and its legal department have been reeling from one of the largest sexual abuse scandals in modern history. Beyond the harm to victims, the fallout caused by the perpetrator, longtime MSU sports doctor Larry Nassar, reached administrators, coaches, faculty and lawyers who failed to protect hundreds of young women athletes.

Nassar was eventually convicted and sentenced to more than a lifetime in a high security prison in Tucson, Arizona. In mid-May the university agreed to pay $500 million to settle lawsuits filed by 332 Nassar victims. It is believed to be the largest university lawsuit settlement in history.
