John J. Bannan

John J. Bannan is a sole practitioner in Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey, with extensive experience in civil litigation and appellate matters. He graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor’s of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame and in 1994 with honors from Rutgers School of Law–Camden, where he edited articles for the Rutgers Law Journal. He clerked for the late Hon. Raymond F. Drozdowski in the Superior Court in Camden. He is a member of the University of Notre Dame Monogram Club earned for service as a football manager on the 1988 National Championship Football Team under Head Coach Lou Holtz. He is a lifelong resident of Southern New Jersey.

During law school, John decided to read New Jersey cases as a means of compiling the elements of New Jersey causes of action. What began as a personal project developed into the manuscript for a book, as John realized that other attorneys could benefit from his labor.

John’s years of research will give New Jersey attorneys an advantage they never had before—a quick starting point for virtually any civil case that walks in the door.

New Jersey Reporting Date Rule

Compliance Group 1: Those with a January 1 - June 30 birthday must complete twenty-four (24) hours of CLE, including four (4) ethics/professionalism, by December 31st, in odd-numbered years.

Compliance Group 2: Those with a July 1 - December 31 birthday must complete twenty-four (24) hours of CLE, including four (4) ethics/professionalism, by December 31st, in even-numbered years.

50 or 60 Minute Credit-Hour: 50 minute credit hour

Compliance groups: Determined by attorney birthday.

Carryover Credit Rule: New Jersey attorneys may carry over twelve (12) credit hours to the next biennial reporting cycle.

COVID Rule Change: In response to the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) New Jersey Supreme Court has temporarily lifted it's live CLE classroom instruction requirement to adhere to the NJ Dept. of Health and CDC recommendation for social distancing. Notes: New Jersey lawyers who do not reside or work on a regular and continuous basis in New Jersey or in another mandatory CLE jurisdiction for the entire compliance period or who are medically certified as unable to attend live courses: Courses taken through alternative verifiable learning formats, if approved for CLE course accreditation, may account for 100% of the credit hours required in a compliance period; provided, however, that this shall apply only during such time as (i) the lawyer does not reside or work on a regular and continuous basis for the entire compliance period in New Jersey or in another mandatory CLE jurisdiction or (ii) a licensed physician certifies to the Board that the lawyer is unable to attend live courses.
