Stuart will discuss whether lawyers can accept cryptocurrencies for legal fees, Fee splitting with other lawyers, when people fight over trust account funds, and the problem of the flat fee.

The purpose of this program isn’t to convince you that we should actually outlaw Twitter, nor do I honestly think I’d be successful in doing so (for reasons I’ll discuss below). The purpose of this program is to talk about concepts of professionalism in the practice of law. I want to show you how concepts of professionalism ask lawyers to aspire to something higher and how Twitter causes us to do the exact opposite. When we use that medium we are, far too often, behaving in a way that is antithetical to concepts of attorney professionalism. So whether you agree with me or not, hopefully you’ll at least learn about important concepts of professionalism.

Whether it’s fictional lawyers in film, real lawyers who represent celebrities, or lawyers who have themselves become celebrities, some of these characters have committed ethical violations. Let’s talk about what every lawyer can learn from the mistakes of these lawyers who represent some interesting people.

In this session, our panelists will discuss some of the top concerns for in-house counsel and the ethical considerations they should be aware of when handling these tricky affairs.

With corporate governance coming under the microscope, in house teams need to ensure they have a handle on their responsibilities to their company and as a leader in the organization. There is a balance between providing advice and mitigating risk. In addition, General Counsel in today's environment must deal with increasing scrutiny from not only the board, but also the media and government.

In this webinar, experts will go over these ethical obligations, court cases where attorneys didn’t meet their obligations, and the impact it had on the cases and/or attorneys directly.

This interactive ethics panel will require the panelists to take on role-reversals and encourage audience participation and debate about what can be done to support experienced professionals, and to avoid the continued diminution of the practice by having parties take on the challenges of the “other side.”

This session will be an interactive program that will inform participants and provide guidance concerning fundamental issues and best practices surrounding professional responsibility and ethical conduct.

This panel will be led by a senior program analyst for the Law Assistance Program for the State Bar of California and will be an interactive discussion about how prevalent substance use and mental health issues are among attorneys, and how substance use and mental health issues impair an attorney’s ability to perform legal services competently.
