Many employers, both private and public, are either subject to COVID-19 vaccination requirements or choosing to implement them. These requirements must allow exceptions as required under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (for sincerely held religious beliefs, practices, or observances) or the Americans with Disabilities Act/the Rehabilitation Act (for disability).

If a person can be proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt of a crime, then the criminal-justice system can(doesn’t mean it will) get that person off the streets, at least temporarily, but… What happens when such a person has served his/her sentence, yet we identify that person (hopefully correctly) as still dangerous?… Or, what if we identify a person (hopefully correctly) as dangerous, but that person has not been convicted of a crime? The program will focus on Federal Civil Rights Acts, Titles VII and IX and provide attendees with the knowledge of Federal and select State and City laws and codes involved with these sexual discrimination and sexual misconduct cases.

This seminar will provide an introduction to concepts relating to trauma and race, leading up to a four-part model that guides legal advocates to tangibly engage in a trauma-informed, anti-racist approach to legal advocacy.

Registrants of the seminar will learn about the historical context of discrimination in regards to poverty and race, the existence of discrimination in the justice system, disparities in bail, jury selection, & conviction, and alleviating the role of poverty and racial bias.

The Women in Criminal Justice Task Force identify challenges women criminal lawyers face in hiring, retention and promotion. They will share their experiences and the importance of creating more seats at the table for traditionally ignored communities.
