Laura Rieben

Director of Privacy
Independence Blue Cross

Laura Rieben serves as the Director of Privacy for Independence Blue Cross. In this position, Ms. Rieben leads and oversees the HIPAA compliance program and other privacy initiatives for Independence and numerous subsidiaries and affiliates, including AmeriHealth New Jersey. She develops and oversees organization-wide privacy training, incident response procedures, policy development, and data oversight initiatives as well as managing the Independence Privacy and Security Committee, and the Data Oversight Workgroup.

Prior to joining Independence, Ms. Rieben was a member of a law firm practice group uniquely dedicated to servicing organizations with data privacy crises, incidents, and risks. In her prior role, Ms. Rieben represented hundreds of organizations of every size and from every industry that suffered data security events. Ms. Rieben assisted clients in investigating and responding to data security events, and she defended clients against third-party and regulatory actions arising from data security events including investigations by Payment Card Brands, the Office for Civil Rights, State Insurance Departments, and Multi-State Attorney General Collation actions. Ms. Rieben also provided pre-data security event consulting services, including industry-specific recommendations for proactive measures to address and mitigate risk.

Daniel J. DeLoof is the Senior Underwriter for Allianz’s cyber business and will be based in New York. Prior to joining Allianz he was with the ACE Group, where he was a claims representative for Professional Risk - Cyber, Privacy Network and Liability Claims. He is a graduate of Saint Joseph’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance.
