An expert in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing, Apoorv is dedicated to understanding and improving how humans and machines benefit from working together. In 2014, he was awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation’s Innovation Corps program, which allowed him to lay the foundation for Text IQ. Prior to Text IQ, Apoorv received the IBM Ph.D. Fellowship award in recognition of his work as first author on two separate patents for IBM’s Watson. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Columbia University, and received the Andrew P. Kosoresow Memorial Award for Outstanding Performance in TA-ing and Service. Apoorv has published more than 30 academic papers in ML and NLP. His work, which focuses on sentiment analysis, relation extraction, text summarization, and automated Q&A, has received more than 1000 citations across the international research community.

Emily Foges has 20 years’ experience of growing and scaling up technology-led businesses. First as a management consultant and then with Betfair, BT and Equifax, she has built and led teams driving acquisition and integration strategies; and scoping, developing and launching new products. In maximizing value from multiple acquisitions and joint ventures, Emily has first-hand experience of the significant risks and opportunities that are often missed during due diligence processes. As CEO of Luminance, she is helping to bring the artificial intelligence revolution to law firms globally.

Pallab Chakraborty is an attorney with product innovation background focusing on eDiscovery, Cybersecurity and Privacy. He is a frequent speaker and thought leader on eDiscovery technology vision and trends. USPTO registered patent attorney and member of California bar.

Andrew Arruda is a Canadian entrepreneur and attorney. He is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of the artificial intelligence company ROSS Intelligence, a leader in the legal technology industry. Arruda speaks internationally on the subjects of AI, legal technology, and entrepreneurship and has been featured in publications such as The New York Times, BBC, Wired, CNBC, CBS, Bloomberg, Fortune, Inc., Forbes, TechCrunch, the Washington Post, and the Financial Times. A member of the Forbes 30 under 30 class of 2017, as well as a 2016 TED speaker, Arruda aims to forever change the way legal services are delivered.

Prior to cofounding ROSS Intelligence, Arruda worked at a Toronto litigation boutique and with the Canadian Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade, and Development in Lisbon, Portugal. Arruda is proud to serve on the Board of the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System (IAALS) as well serve as the Subcommittee Chair of the Alternative Business Services and Multi-Disciplinary Practices subcommittee of the State Bar of California’s Task Force on Access Through Innovation of Legal Service (ATILS).
