Bain Capital said Tuesday it has agreed to sell software maker Applied Systems for $1.8 billion to fellow private equity firms Hellman & Friedman and JMI Equity. Bain is being advised on the deal by frequent outside counsel Ropes & Gray, as is Applied. Hellman & Friedman and JMI are, respectively, relying on Simpson Thacher & Bartlett and Goodwin Procter as their lead outside counsel.
