Japan’s NTT Communications Corp. turned to Squire Sanders and White & Case for a pair of U.S. acquisitions in the cloud computing space worth a combined $875 million.

NTT Communications, a division of the larger NTT Group, agreed to acquire Denver, Colo.-based Virtela Technology Services Inc. for $525 million in cash. Virtela provides network management, security and cloud services.

Squire Sanders Tokyo managing partner Ken Kurosu is leading the team advising NTT on the Virtela deal. Counsel for Virtela was not available at press time.

The Japanese company is also purchasing an 80 percent stake in Sacramento, Calif.-based RagingWire Data Centers for $350 million. NTT said the acquisition would more than double its data center space in the United States and help boost its cloud offerings.

White & Case is acting for NTT on the RagingWire deal, with a team led by Tokyo partner Brian Strawn, Silicon Valley partner Eric Hwang, and New York partner David Dreier.

Denver’s Holland & Hart is representing RagingWire, with Reno, Nev.-based partners David Garcia and Fritz Battcher leading work on the deal.
