U.K. private client boutique Withers has relocated a senior London partner to Hong Kong to launch a corporate and finance practice in Asia.
Denis Petkovic, head of Withers’ international finance and projects practice, is moving to Hong Kong to lead the firm’s initiative. He has advised previous clients, including the International Finance Corp. and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, on a variety of deals in Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
“We have seen a growing demand to extend our service to include sophisticated corporate and finance advice related to wealth planning and also stand alone transactions in the corporate and banking space,” Withers managing partner Margaret Robertson said in a statement.
Petkovic joined Withers as a partner in 2010 from the London office of Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. He was also previously a partner with Chadbourne & Parke from 2000 to 2008. Earlier in his career Petkovic spent four years in Hong Kong with Stephenson Harwood.
Withers Hong Kong office now has 26 lawyers, including seven partners.* The firm employs 375 lawyers in 11 offices worldwide. It opened an office in Singapore last year.
