Clyde & Co has hired an arbitration partner in Singapore.

Former Rajah & Tann partner and South Asia practice head Prakash Pillai has joined the U.K. firm’s Singapore-based joint law venture, Clyde & Co Clasis, which launched in July. He is an arbitration specialist with a particular focus on India. He has advised clients in the aviation, automotive, and financial services sectors, among others.

Pillai joined Rajah & Tann as a partner in 2006 from WongPartnership, where he was also a partner. He began his legal career at Allen & Gledhill in 1998.

Clyde & Co Clasis is led by Clyde Singapore managing partner Brian Nash.* Clasis managing director Steven Lim is a former Clyde arbitration partner who left in 2011 to launch his own Singapore firm. He is also a former Rajah & Tann partner.

The joint law venture employs about 30 lawyers, including 11 partners, and is expected to serve as a hub for Clyde’s Asia Pacific offices, which include Sydney, Perth, Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Beijing offices.

*Correction, 9/12/13: A previous version of this story incorrectly named Steven Lim as head of the Clyde & Co Clasis joint law venture. In fact, Clyde partner Brian Nash leads the JLV. We regret the error.
