DLA Piper has added a partner to its Hong Kong office.
Benjamin Sandstad is joining DLA Piper from Mayer Brown JSM, where he was a partner in the banking and finance practice.
Admitted in Hong Kong and Australia, Sandstad acts for issuers, arrangers and swap providers on securities deals. In 2011, he acted for Beijing Enterprises Water Group Ltd., a Hong Kong-listed water treatment company, on a dual tranche issue of renminbi bonds. Earlier this year, Sandstad advised China International Marine Containers (Hong Kong) Ltd. on the establishment of a $600 million notes program.
Sandstad started his legal career with Australian firm Clayton Utz, leaving that firm in 2004 to join Linklaters as associate in Hong Kong and Tokyo. He returned to Clayton Utz four years later as partner in Sydney. Sandstad moved to Mayer Brown JSM as Hong Kong consultant in 2010 and became a partner a year later.
According to its website, DLA Piper has 67 lawyers in its Hong Kong office. The firm has over 4,000 lawyers worldwide.
